Circa 1908/09 1 1/2" x 2 5/8" match safe with a composite celluloid photo of the Detroit Tigers, including each and every star from Ty Cobb, Sam Crawford, Hughie Jennings, right on down the roster, even Frank Navin is included. Banners within the composite stating "Champions of American League 1907" and "Champions of American League 1908". The opposite side of the match safe carrying a large ad for Mundus Beer West Side Brewery Co. Detroit Michigan. The case showing consistent light overall wear with some foxing to the celluloid and a dent to the metal end, the all important very early image of Cobb being free of any detriments. A scarce and quite popular piece of Tigers history. We offered another of these just two years ago, which was just a bit nicer, that brought very spirited bidding. For those that were unable to prevail at that time, we offer a second chance to acquire a scarce and popular item.
