Horizontal photograph of San Francisco Seals Minor Leaguer Buck Weaver, taken by the Newspaper Enterprise Association(Pacific Bureau) and dated August 25, 1911. A crystal clear image which has had highlighting done for use in publications. An outstanding piece for the Seals, Weaver or photo collector. Last and only offering by RMY in 2013, this piece has certainly appreciated in desirability since then as photograph collecting was still in it's infancy at that time. A chance to acquire a premium item of a legendary PCL player and later to be a participant/victim of the Black Sox scandal. Measures 7 7/8' x 5 5/8", one set of staple holes in the upper left that do not detract one bit.
This is a very early image of Weaver, possibly the earliest and also early for PCL photos in general. Last sold in 2013 in RMY Auctions, comes with a letter of authenticity from them.
