Jan 8, 1912 1912 Andrew Jackson Day Banquet Pin made by Whitehead & Hoag. January 8th used to be a National Holiday celebrating the War of 1812 and Jackson's win at the Battle of New Orleans. It was dropped in 1861, but still celebrated in many circles decades later. This event in 1912 was held at the Raleigh Hotel in Washington D. C. and was a precursor and fund raising for the 1912 election, with many important people attending the banquet and speaking including William Jennings Bryan, Woodrow Wilson and William R. Hearst. Each person at the banquet was to receive one of these pins, however an internet search reveals no past sales or current offerings from any auction or website!!
