J.A. Gardner Official Texas League Baseball signed by five MLB HOFers and another star of the day. Heavily toned(probably shellacked) signed by HOFers Ty Cobb, Dizzy Dean, Mickey Cochrane, Travis Jackson and Charles Gehringer as well as Duffy Lewis. But why?? Turns out they all "played" made an appearance at the April 11, 1950 Dallas Eagles home opener against Tulsa.

Ty Cobb, Dizzy Dean, Mickey Cochrane, Charlie Gehringer, Travis Jackson, Charlie Grimm, Duffy Lewis and Home-Run Baker appeared at the Texas League opening day game between the Dallas Eagles and the Tulsa Oilers. They didn't really play but the crowd got to see them take batting practice and Dizzy Dean pitch to one Tulsa player with the other 8 in their positions. Dean went to a full count before he walked the Tulsa lead-off hitter, then got into an “argument” with the home plate umpire, and was thrown out. His teammates, supposedly in a show of solidarity, followed and the regular starting lineup for the Dallas Eagles took over. The Dallas Eagles usually played at the long gone Burnett Field in Oak Cliff but because of the large crowd drawn by the nine old timers the game was played at the Cotton Bowl. The attendance of over 53,000 was a record for a season-opening game for any U.S. minor league team.

JSA Full Certification. Fortunately, the Ty Cobb and Dizzy Dean are two of the more visible signatures on the ball. An inexpensive avenue to obtain a ball with multiple HOFers including Ty Cobb at an affordable price.
