Small sized 1 7/8" x 2 5/8" albumen photographed attached to slightly larger light weight cardboard mount, entitled "The Empire". A young Baseball player is the subject of the photo, clad in his baseball uniform with Bangor A. A. on the jersey. Almost assuredly Bangor, Maine. What team or Association A. A. represents is not known, nor is the identity of the player. The back is blank. What "The Empire" refers to is also unknown, whether it was a newspaper, hotel, team knickname?? or what exactly has not been learned. Neat piece of early baseball, the quilted pants probably making it late 1880's or 1890's.
