Very early 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" cabinet mount with a slightly smaller albumen photo of a baseball player with his bat in a studio backdrop. The image has some red colorizing to his stockings, belt and cap. On the back is found the photographers stamp of A. McCormick Oxford, Chester Co. Pa. whom we know is Alexander McCormick, a very well known Chester county photographer who operated there from 1862-1896. Based on the style of photo, mount and backstamp, we date this circa 1870's. The image is fairly nice with a succinct pose, the photo and mount unblemished, a penciled notation of an antique mall dealer or such and a small label from another that appears more than happy to come off with a little heat and patience(we'll leave that up to the new owner).
