A complete set of the very attractive and scarce German porcelain Baseball players produced by Heubach prior to the turn of the century, in the largest size possible, nearly a full 16", the fielder a bit shorter due to his stance. These can be found in various sizes from 7" to 14", the larger the scarcer, due to production and their fragility. These are of the rarest nature at this extra large size. Not to mention that finding all four is another anomaly. The Pitcher and Batter are most often seen, the Fielder and Base Runner, not as often. In remarkable condition, kept in the consignor's family for a very long time. Virtually no chipping to the base edges, which are often heavily worn or chipped. The Batter having one finger broken off, appears to be the only flaw in the group(perhaps repairable), no other cracks or repairs seen. The bat appears to be original as well. Offered as a group so that they may stay together and reward the very fortunate winner with some top-shelf pieces of 19th Century Baseball memorabilia. Even in major auctions(sports & antiques), these appear infrequently, when they do they are normally of the small to medium variety and even then see spirited bidding. Due to the size and condition of these, their desirability is unmeasurable. We offer it as the #1 Lot in the auction, a truly fantastic group!
