Breathtaking crystal clear image of 1888 Columbia City, Indiana Baseball Catcher Harry Elliff on standard sized cabinet card. Harry sits in his uniform and striped cap, with a spotted tie. The penciled information on the back records forever the person and his importance to the club of 1888. Sadly, Harry Elliff would die just two short years later in May of 1890, doing the job he loved, Catching for the Houston club of the Texas League, from Typhoid fever. Harry played with Waco the year before in 1889 and also, Pueblo and the California Riversides, managed by Barney McCloskey whom signed him with Houston. Harry was born in 1867 in Dayton, Ohio and is buried there with the rest of his family, a career cut short by a deadly malady of the era. A very nice cabinet with an ID and story to go with it.
