Oliver Optics October 16, 1869 Vol. VI No. 146 of "Our Boys and Girls" a weekly string bound magazine. One full page is devoted to professional base ball of the day as their season had came to an end. Mr. Frank Queen was awarding a "gold" medal to the best player of each position and a "gold ball" was to be given to the best team. However the season ended without the Mutuals playing the Athletic's, despite being challenged by them several times to a match. Eventually the Mutuals consented to a "friendly" match, losing the first two games and the gold ball was given to the Athletic's. Other teams mentioned are the Clippers, Resolutes and Haymakers among others. Fifteen pages, all still tightly bound by the original string, although missing the cover.
