Standard size 4 1/8" x 6 3/16" studio cabinet card of Fredrick William Ricker posing with his baseball uniform and "catching" a ball suspended from a string, a classic image used by many of the photographers for the Goodwin images. Probably of the late 1870's to early 1880's era. The cabinet had gold gilded edges, the bottom corners each chipped off. The crystal clear image with absolutely no blemishes more than makes up for the mount. As to our subject, we believe it to be Fredrick William Ricker b. Sept 5, 1858 in Bellevue, Iowa and died March 22, 1935 in Hope, North Dakota, based on an online genealogy with a photo of him. A very nice piece to add to the 19th Century collection.
