1922 photo of Ty Cobb and his Oldsmobile Super Sport. This photo has been embellished with some clouds and flag, along with a baseball vignette in the upper right from the original taken by an unknown photographer. Presumably this was done to use the image in Oldsmobile advertising or perhaps a postcard as well. Measures 7" x 5", SGC Authentic, there is a crease at the upper left. The back carries a notation "return to Casteele", which is almost certainly famous Oldsmobile historian and author Dennis Casteele, who must have owned it at one time. It appears to be a one of kind mock-up, probably the only one made from the original, as no others appear on internet searches and it is the only one graded by SGC. For the Cobb collector, these one-off items can be extremely hard to find and highly sought after. Rarely do we use the term "investment quality" yet Ty Cobb rarities are escalating in price and value by the day in these times, with no sign of slowing down.
As an added bonus the Detroit sweater that Cobb is wearing is the same one in the Baseball Hall of Fame Museum.
