Carlton Buffet postcard from Omaha, Nebraska postmarked Jan. 15, 1914. Mailed to Ed White 820 Vaughn, Portland Oregon, with a short notation "We are going to start the Federal League here now - Jack has signed me for Podunx - Van". As it turns out "Jack" is Jack Haskell one of the men featured on the front of the post card, who was an early American League Umpire and had connections with Minor and Major League Baseball for at least the 1900's and 1910's. "Van" is probably the Umpire Van Buskirk whom worked many, many games from various leagues in the 1910's. The postcard is also desirable as the front image shows the interior of the restaurant with a large scoreboard which appears to have box scores for the Western League, American League, National League and Federal League. An early piece of Federal League history.
