Unbelievable Proof card for the 1888 Allen & Ginter first series of 50 cards of "Young Bibby" actually George Mehling. On thin stock with "proof" alignment marks on all four sides. Only a few of any of the N28 subjects have been seen in Proof form since the dawn of the internet age, a true rarity. One of four we are offering from the same collection, having been purchased several years ago. We have had these examined by SGC and all four have been Authentic Proof cards from this issue. They are no poster or album cut cards as evidenced by the alignment marks and no names, blank backed on thin stock rather than paper. Possibly each one is unique.
