Museum quality photograph of St. Louis Cardinals HOFer Stan Musial. The photo is color carbon bromide, the image measuring 7 1/2" x 10 1/8" on 8 7/8" x 10 3/4" heavy stock. Housed in a cream colored paper folder with a label adhered to the back "Stan Musial Natural Color Photograph by The News, N.Y." more importantly the back of the photo has penned on it "Stan Musial Cranston & Schoenbaechler 1947". During the 1940's and earlier, photographers Robert F. Cranston and Gus Schoenbaechler photographed many of America's most important dignitaries, actors, actresses, and athletes among many other contemporary icons of the day. Many of these are found in some of the most advanced photo collections and highly sought after. This piece sold over a decade ago in one of the Barry Sloate or Sloate & Smolin auctions and is now available for the first time since then.
