April 16, 1917 Illustrated Current News supplement of the New York Yankees "marching" on the field for their opening game at the Polo Grounds, bats over their shoulders as their counterparts serving in the U.S. services were overseas. Each Major League team was undergoing their own marching and training drills as a show of support for the troops. Measures 18 3/4" x 12 1/2"and is blank backed. Most edges tears/stains confined to the outside border, the central image unaffected. While the original pictures of this day can be found online, another example of this supplement does not appear.
