1907 A. C. Dietsche postcard of Ty Cobb, from the Detroit Team issue. This the Batting pose with the larger font text on the back, the much scarcer version of the two 1907 backs, which is also identifiable by the postage stamp box have the last two lines as Foreign, Two over Cents. One small corner crease, otherwise just the lightest of wear to the corners with a very bold and strong contrast image. The back is equally as nice. These have gone up in price exponentially the last few months and may not go back down. Here is a chance to acquire a new to the hobby example, from an estate find in Michigan of the complete fifteen card set, the balance offered as a separate lot. Nice examples are now approaching five-figures. As a comparison, a recent SGC 1.5 with the more common small text, with obvious wear and creasing, brought $4,700 in a very recent auction. The card we are offering is much nicer appearing example and the harder to find variety!

Just graded by SGC, the card was assigned the AUT grade only due to not meeting minimum size requirements. No evidence of trimming or altering. This postcard and all of the rest offered in the other lot, are from an original find, stored away for decades, each one of them measures 3 1/2" x 5 3/8"(some a little narrow, when not showing portions of the adjoining cards). While the Standard Catalog, lists these as 5 1/2", we believe the grader made their judgement based on measuring alone with no regard to the original edge wear. After talking to other postcard collectors and hobby experts, we have found quite a variance in the size of these from slightly under 5 3/8" to 5 1/2". We strongly disagree with the non-numerical grade, but due to the short amount of time left before the auction started there was no time for a reevaluation by them or another TPG. Without a doubt this will be the nicest Cobb Dietsche postcard AUT you will find. Displaying nicer than any of the other A's, 1's, 2's and 3's!

We have little doubt that this will wind up in a numerical holder down the road, but elected to not sell it raw and leave it in the current holder as some will appreciate the card as is, know that it is real and untampered with, without the need for a number. The buyer may elect to crack and resubmit.
