1948 R421 Swell Babe Ruth Story set of sixteen of the original set, which was later added on to. All of these are graded, by PSA, SGC and a third tier grader which are mostly overgraded, however a couple of the higher end ones may be trimmed. We will attempt to give an assessment of each, but cannot guarantee the results as it is a bit hard to tell in the holders if a couple have been trimmed or not. No attempt was made to cross them over.
This group has the slightly tougher #1 and #16 as well as several high end cards. Included are: #1 EX 5(card appears original but more likely a 3), #2 VG(appears ok), #3 VG(should be G), #4 VG-EX(should be a 3), #5 PSA 6, #6 PSA 6, #7 PSA 4, #8 PSA 6, #9 EX-MT(possible trim), #10 EX(appears fine, might be a 4), #11 PSA 7, #12 SGC 84, #13 PSA 4, #14 PSA 6, #15 SGC 80 and #16 EX(possible trim). We have tried to be as accurate as possible with the grading of the off brand holders, but make no mistake they are still quite desirable and collectible. If all were matched to one grading company, you would in fact have a very nice Swell Babe Ruth set. These are not easy cards to come by and often are found in lower grade, this set has many nicer than usual cards included and could be the basis for a very nice set.
