1890 Cabinet Photo of a presumed town team or perhaps a school team. Fountain penned on the back is "Hingham Center base ball club 1890" 1. Ben Shedd 2. Hubert Shedd. Ben and Hubert Shedd can both be found in the 1880 & later Federal Census in the greater Boston area. They were born 1874 and 1875 respectively. In the photo Ben is in the back row far left and Hubert back row far right. There are eleven uniformed players and a manager shown. Each player is adorned in a matching uniform that has a H within a C logo. The catcher has a mask and a chest pad, the manager a scorebook and the player in the bottom row to the right holds a ball. The mount is 8 1/2" x 5 1/4", the image 7 1/2" x 4 1/2". Overall nice condition with nice clarity to the image. An identified team, with two players ID'd, making it much more desirable than a non-descrip image.
