Circa 1878 color lithograph advertising for Clarence Brooks & Co. entitled "Baseball at Blackville-The White Stockings against the Black Legs First Blood for the Black Legs" measuring 4 13/16" x 3 7/16" with a small hole at the center top. It is probable that this was cut down from a calendar or store hanger, but not know for sure. The back is blank, the piece has been matted, but could easily be removed. This exact image appeared in Harper's Weekly June 27, 1878. This one of several by Solomon Eytinge, Jr. that appeared in Harper's and inspired various plays of the day in regards to black baseball as well.
