Circa 1905 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" professional photographer cabinet card of Patrick "Patsy" Donovan the ever popular player and manager for a number of teams. This was taken by Craven in Wayne, Nebraska and according to the notations on the back "around 1905", which would be the year he was out of baseball for the most part. Why or what he was doing in Wayne, Nebraska is unknown. Donovan had a number of important and interesting moments in his career, he convinced Boston to sign Babe Ruth and he coached the elder George Bush at Andover, who later on in life pushed to have Donovan put in the MLB HOF. There is a manuscript "Patsy Donovan" written on the front, but does not appear to be his actual autograph, however it could be, the back has the handwritten "Great Ballplayer Patrick Donovan Taken around 1905". Also lightly penciled is "Floria"? A very nice image, one small scrape at the lower edge. This image does not appear to be used for any other known Donovan items and may be unique.
